YOUR NIGHTLY ‘E&P’ VIDEO: Tribute to Marine Officer in Iraq Who Died Helping Journalists — Music by Lennon and Petty

By: Greg Mitchell

On Tuesday, we carried one of the first full-length accounts of the life and death of high-ranking U.S. Marines officer to die in Iraq, Maj. Megan McClung, age 34. The story was of particular interest for us because she was a public affairs officer who assisted a large number of embeds there and, in fact, was killed, with two others, in an I.E.D. blast while reportedly escorting a group of journalists. Our story carried testimonials by a few reporters who knew her.

Now a moving, short video tribute to her has been posted, with a soundtrack that includes Tom Petty?s ?American Girl? and John Lennon?s ?In My Life.? It comes from the Marine Expeditionary Force Public Affairs office but the easiest link we?ve found is the following. Just click on the picture in the box.
