It’s no big secret that the unnamed musician portrayed by former “Star Wars” star Hayden Christensen in the new movie “Factory Girl” is not so loosely based on Bob Dylan. The film, which has been roundly panned by critics, portrays the sick and sad life of poor little rich girl Edie Segwick, the Warhol superstar, who died young and beautiful in the early 1970s.

Edie was close to Dylan at some point, though there is much question about how close. It has been claimed that he wrote “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Just Like a Woman” about her, though evidence for this is very slim. The film suggests that Dylan (whoops, the musician) rejecting her helped set in motion her downward spiral.

Bob is not too happy about this, and has threatened to sue. Let’s just say he has the dough to afford a good lawyer. Maybe that’s why the follolwing clip uses Coldplay instead of Dylan.

Oh well. This clip of Hayden as Dylan is quite entertaining, and they do look alike (circa 1965 for Bob). The shades, the harmonica holder, the motorcycle– they’re all there. And now it’s time for my bootheels to be wanderin’.
