“Zippy the Pinhead” won an online comics poll conducted by The Berkshire Eagle of Pittsfield, Mass.
Meanwhile, the newspaper added “Lio” and “Get Fuzzy” to its lineup to replace two strips — “Safe Havens” and “Sylvia” — that didn’t do well in the reader survey.
Bill Griffith does “Zippy” for King Features Syndicate, Mark Tatulli creates “Lio” for Universal Press Syndicate, and Darby Conley does “Get Fuzzy” for United Media.
Finishing second and third behind “Zippy” were “Zits” by Jim Borgman and Jerry Scott of King and “For Better or For Worse” by Lynn Johnston of Universal.
