“Zits” is the most popular comic in the Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal, according to a reader poll.

The strip by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman of King Features Syndicate got a positive rating of 87.5% from more than 1,800 survey respondents.

Other comics that polled well included “Crankshaft” by Tom Batiuk and Chuck Ayers of King, “For Better or For Worse” by Lynn Johnston of Universal Press Syndicate, and “Baby Blues” by Jerry Scott and Rick Kirkman of King.

Strips that polled poorly included “Cleats,” “Prickly City,” and “Mary Worth.” But the last comic is staying because the Beacon Journal is not dropping serial strips at this time.

The paper is still seeking reader input on which two comics to add to its pages.
