BPA Worldwide’s membership elected five new Board Directors and re-elected four existing Directors during its May meeting in New York City. Each board member will serve a three-year term.
The newly elected BPA Board Directors include:
Gary Davies (media owner representative) is President of Canada Wide Media Ltd. Based in Burnaby, Canada Wide is the largest independent magazine publisher in Western Canada, publishing such well-known brands as BCBusiness and BC Home and Garden. Davies was formerly the Executive Vice-President of RedPoint Media Group Inc. in Calgary, where he worked for more than 16 years.
Davies most recently served as Past President of the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association. He presently sits on the Board of Magazines Canada and on the Board of the Magazine Association of British Columbia. Davies was first appointed to the BPA Board in September 2012.
Tom Graham (advertising agency representative) is the Vice President/Account Director of Goda Advertising, an international agency serving clients in the BtoB market, focusing mainly on high-tech industries including medical equipment, motion control, electronics, machine tools and robotics. Tom has worked with Goda for over 20 years developing campaigns and doing the in depth homework that leads to their success.
Goda Advertising continues to be recognized as a top BtoB Agency for the past 7 years. Located in Inverness IL, created in 1984 Goda services clients mainly in the Chicago Area and Internationally with clients in Japan.
Lawrence LaPorta (marketer representative) is General Manager of Beiersdorf Canada. He joined Beiersdorf in 2006 as US Marketing Director for the Futuro brand. Larry has extensive experience in marketing, market research and strategic planning. Prior to joining Beiersdorf, he has worked at such companies as McCann Erickson, Colgate Palmolive, Kraft Foods and Revlon in various roles of increasing responsibility. LaPorta was first appointed to the BPA Board in November 2012.
Ross Marin (advertising agency representative) is currently the CEO and Chairman of the Marin Media Group, a full-service communication, marketing and advertising agency located in Vaughan Ontario which specializes in helping organizations achieve success through traditional media and the new era of Digital Media.
Marin is also the founder of Fantactics Sports & Entertainment Marketing Inc., one of Canada’s most innovative, interactive, consumer-driven sports and entertainment marketing agency, offering cutting edge ideas and promotions for brands, retailers, athletes and celebrities. Over the years he has worked with many sports personalities and celebrities.
Backed by more than 30 years of experience, Marin is past Chair of CCAB’s Canadian Newspaper Advisory Board (CNAB). He is the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce and is also the Chair of the Advertising Committee for the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce. Marin is also an executive with the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Clune Council #11535 and is on his second term as President of the St. David’s Parish Council.
Martha (Marty) Willis (marketer representative) is Chief Marketing Officer at OppenheimerFunds, Inc. She is responsible for developing and executing the firm’s marketing strategy across the corporate communications, marketing and digital communications. Additionally, she is responsible for investment product development and management, retirement and college savings products and Board Relations. Willis received ‘Fund Marketer of the Year’ award (2010) from Institutional Investor for the newly formed OppenheimerFunds Marketing teams.
Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds in October 2009, she spent 25 years at Fidelity Investments in a variety of roles. Most recently, she held a number of positions with Fidelity’s Institutional Services Company including Executive Vice President of Investment Product Management and Marketing. Earlier in her career, Willis was Executive Vice President of Fidelity Retail Group’s Mutual Fund Business and Senior Vice President of Relationship Marketing for Fidelity Institutional Services Company. She began her career as a wholesaler for Massachusetts Financial Services.

Tim Fixmer (media owner representative) is a seasoned B2B media executive, a team builder who has launched, acquired, and grown more than 30 brands in print, digital, and event properties that serve specialized business segments including high-tech, agriculture, manufacturing, and commercial real estate.
In August of 2010, Fixmer formed CCI Media, LLC to acquire essential print and e-media brands that possess significant growth potential in e-commerce.
He has held executive positions with media organizations of widely varied sizes, including VNU, Cygnus Business Media, IIR Publishing, Duke Communications, Johnson Hill Press, and Stamats Business Media, where he pioneered the first BPA Brand Audits in B2B markets.
He has been active in American Business Media for nearly two decades, serving on numerous ABM committees and panels. In 2009 he was named by B2B Media Business magazine as one of the country’s top 40 media professionals.
Phil Johnson (advertising agency representative) is CEO of PJA Advertising + Marketing, an award-winning national agency located in Cambridge and San Francisco.
Recognized six times as a top BtoB Agency of the Year, PJA has worked with many of the great technology and healthcare brands on a global basis, including Red Hat, Trend Micro, EMC, Novartis, GE Healthcare, Boston Scientific and Brother. He writes for AdAge about agency issues and contributes regularly to the Forbes CMO Network. BtoB Magaizine has named Johnson to Who’s Who in marketing for the past two years.
Johnson serves on the board of the Boston Museum of Science, Partners In Health, and the New York Chapter of the Business Marketing Association.
Linda McGovern (marketer representative) has worked for USG for the past eight years. She started as the director of marketing communications and now serves as the VP of Global Marketing. In her role, McGovern is responsible for global branding as well as the development of marketing strategies and programs for all global businesses, including support for new product launches, dealer and field marketing, sport marketing and sponsorships, customer events, advertising, public relations, social media and interactive activity.
Prior to joining USG, McGovern spent five years in marketing at Navistar working on branding, marketing communications, customer events and dealer promotions. She has also worked in the healthcare and logistics / distribution industries as a marketing professional. She serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Chicago chapter of the Business Marketing Association. She is also an active member of the Association of National Advertisers.
Joseph Pramberger (media owner representative) is President of Tech Briefs Media Group (TBMG). Headquartered in New York City, TBMG specializes in print and electronic information products for technical professionals.
Pramberger has over 27 years of experience in all aspects of B2B publishing. He runs TBMG’s publishing and sales operations, and is the Publisher of NASA Tech Briefs, the largest-circulation design engineering magazine. He has led the development of numerous successful start-up publications, including Medical Design Briefs, Defense Tech Briefs, and Photonics Tech Briefs, along with innovative digital and custom products that have more than doubled the company’s sales and profits.
Pramberger previously served as Marketing Manager for the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer and ran national technology transfer conferences and exhibitions.
