Levittown, Pa.– Calkins Media, Inc. has named Michael G. Jameson as company president and general manager of Greater Philadelphia Media, effective March 29.
In this capacity, Jameson will have overall responsibility for all of Calkins Media, Inc.’s media properties in the Philadelphia market. These include the Burlington County Times in Willingboro, N.J., The Intelligencer in Doylestown, Pa., the Bucks County Courier Times in Levittown, Pa., PhillyBurbs.com and all associated support and production operations in the Philadelphia market. He will report directly to Calkins Media, Inc. chief executive officer, Mark G. Contreras and become a member of the company’s senior management team.
Jameson, a newspaper and digital executive with more than 30 years of local media leadership experience, was most recently publisher of the Anderson Independent-Mail in Anderson, S.C.
Prior to Anderson, Jameson was president and chief executive officer of
Tucson Newspapers – a partnership owned by The Gannett Company and Lee Enterprises where he served for more than six years.
Jameson began his local media career in 1979 as an advertising representative at the Gloucester (Mass.) Daily Times. He has held advertising and sales-related leadership roles at the Rockingham County (N.H.) Newspapers, The Hartford Courant and The Louisville Courier-Journal.
In 1993, Jameson joined Madison Newspapers where he eventually became the vice president and general manager. In 2000, he assumed the role of president for River Valley Newspaper Group and publisher of the La Crosse (Wis.) Tribune until moving to the Tucson Newspapers. Under his leadership, the River Valley Newspaper Group in La Crosse was recognized as “Enterprise of the Year” by Lee Enterprises in 2002.
