Daniel Finnegan has been named publisher and executive editor of The News & Record in Greensboro, N.C. He was most recently vice president of news and digital audience at the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch.
Finnegan, who has been at The Times-Dispatch for nearly 29 years, including a four-year stint as its editor, also will serve on the executive team that oversees BH Media Group newspapers across North Carolina, including the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal, the Hickory (N.C.) Daily News and seven other newspapers.
Finnegan started at The Times-Dispatch in 1987 as a sports copy editor. He later became assistant sports editor, assistant managing editor for night news, deputy managing editor and senior editor. He was named the newspaper’s editor in July 2011.
Paige Mudd will become The Times-Dispatch’s executive editor and vice president of news. She became an reporter at The Times-Dispatch in 2000, covering Chesterfield County and Richmond police and courts before she became an editor in 2008. She became managing editor in September 2014 and served as the newspaper’s senior editor for four years before that, running the newsroom’s daily operations.
