Fairbanks, Alaska–Lifelong Fairbanks resident Kathryn Johnson Strle has been named general manager with the Daily News-Miner following the departure of publisher Marilyn Romano. Strle will assume leadership of the newspaper on July 23. Romano, who has been publisher since 2000, is leaving to become Alaska regional vice president for Alaska Airlines. Since 2002, Strle was the Daily News-Miner’s chief financial officer. She previously worked as human resources director at Tanana Chiefs Conference. Under Strle, the Daily News-Miner will continue its long-standing support of local nonprofit organizations and other local entities. The newspaper’s editorials will continue to promote Fairbanks, the responsible development of Alaska’s natural resources and fiscal moderation.
