Gardner, Longtime Ohio Sports Writer, Dies at 79


(AP) Former Kenton Times sports editor Thad Gardner has died at 79.

Gardner, the newspaper’s sports editor for 20 years, died Saturday at his home in Kenton. No cause of death was announced.

He joined the Times in 1956 and retired in 1990.

Gardner began his career at the Gallipolis Daily Tribune. He also worked at The Gadsden (Ala.) Times and Birmingham (Ala.) Post-Herald.

He is survived by his wife Rosie, three stepchildren and five stepgrandchildren.

The Price Funeral Home in Kenton is in charge of arrangements. Gardner will be buried Wednesday.
