Irene Gentle has been named managing editor of The Toronto Star. Gentle has been at The Star since 2011.
Gentle formerly worked at the Hamilton Spectator in Ontario, Canada for six years, serving as news editor, assignment editor, city editor, business editor and Saturday editor. She was the election editor for the 2008 federal election.
Prior to that, she worked at Niagara This Week and wrote for the Flamborough Review, Oakville Beaver and the Milton Canadian Champion, all in Ontario, Canada.
