Johnson City, Tenn.–Justin Wilcox has been named publisher of the Johnson City Press, succeeding Art Powers, who retired in January.
Wilcox will assume formal responsibilities for the Press in April. Wilcox will come to Johnson City from San Jose, Calif., where he is publisher of the Daily News and general manager of Silicon Valley Community Newspapers.
Originally from Rochester, Mich., Wilcox earned his journalism degree from Michigan State University. He began his media career as circulation director for Michigan Community Newspapers in Wayne, Mich. Wilcox worked in a number of roles around the country, including vice president of sales for Prime Time newspapers, a group owned by the Hearst Corp. near San Antonio, Texas.
