Dorothy Wayner, director of research and sales development at Landon Media Group LLC, died July 23 after a short illness. She was 67.
Wayner joined the Landon Media Group in 1991. Before that she worked at Byrd, Richard & Pound, Inc., the Sawdon & Bess Division of Ted Bates & Co., and AC&R Advertising, Inc., a division of Saatchi & Saatchi. At these firms, she served as management supervisor on retail chain accounts, transportation accounts, auto dealer associations, publishing, and media.
In addition, Wayner acted as a director of Advertising Women of New York and as an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was also on the Board of St. Bart’s Community Preschool and was named YWCA Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1976.
“”Her leadership role at Landon Media Group was supported by advertising and marketing experience encompassing a wide variety of products and services,”” Owen E. Landon, Jr., the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “”[This enabled] her to always know the advertising objective and point of view when integrating newspapers in the media mix.””
