Main Street Connect, a national community news company with headquarters in Norwalk, CT, has announced the appointment of Carl Lavin as its new managing editor. Until September 2010, Lavin was Managing Editor of Forbes.com.
Main Street Connect launched its first community news site, TheDailyNorwalk.com, in March 2010, and its tenth site, TheDailyGreenwich.com, in June, 2010. Main Street Connect sites are now visited by more than 140,000 readers each month, a number that has been increasing by 10 percent per week since March.
Lavin served as Managing Editor of Forbes.com from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that he served as deputy managing editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer and in various editorial management positions at the New York Times, including deputy Washington editor. His local news experience came early in his career.
