Ed Skinner, Longtime Augusta Newspaper Executive, Dies at 86

Edward B. “Ed” Skinner Jr., one of the most successful managers in the history of Augusta newspapers, died Monday. He was 86.

 

Skinner, who had worked as a galley boy in the old production department of The Augusta Chronicle in 1944 and retired almost 55 years later as vice president of operations for 31 newspapers of Morris Communications Corp., was respected by both those he supervised and the industry he represented.
