Gary B. Gaier, Former Group Manager for Lavine Newspapers, Dies at 77

Gary B. Gaier, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 3, at his home in Chippewa Falls, Wis. He worked in the newspaper industry for 31 years, beginning his career at the Chippewa Herald Telegram in 1960 as the advertising director. He quickly rose to the position of GM and later was group manager for Lavine Newspaper Group, overseeing a group of daily newspapers in Wisconsin. He then started Profit Plus, a consulting company, working with a variety of newspapers in the Midwest and Alaska. He was a mentor to many in the industry.
