March 30, 2015 (TORONTO) – Postmedia Network Inc. (“Postmedia”) today announced the appointment of Gordon Fisher to the position of President, National Post. Mr. Fisher is quite familiar with the role, having held it from July 2010 until January 2013.
“Having been with National Post on day one, Gord has an enduring passion for the Post and is one of its biggest champions,” said Paul Godfrey, President and CEO. “Gord rejoins the team at a key time in the Post’s evolution. Gord will lead the Post team with a renewed focus on product development and enhancing advertiser relationships.”
Mr. Fisher has held a number of senior roles with Postmedia and with National Post since its inception in October 1998. He has an extensive media background and has held a number of senior executive positions in many Canadian cities on both the editorial and business sides of the media industry.
He has previously served as Publisher, National Post, as well as President, News and Information, Canwest Global Communications Corp. Other responsibilities of note include roles as editor-in-chief, general manager and publisher of the Ottawa Citizen; publisher of the Kingston-Whig Standard and managing editor of The Vancouver Sun. Currently, Mr. Fisher will continue in the role of President Pacific Newspaper Group.
