Rachel Van Dongen will return to The Washington Post to lead a new initiative for the National desk. Van Dongen has spent the last three years at Politico, most recently as a deputy managing editor in charge of the print edition.
She managed Politico’s campaign coverage during the last presidential election, fielding trail reporters and editing high-level stories. In her first Post incarnation,Van Dongen oversaw the curation of the Post Politics page and helped edit The Fix and Post Politics blogs. She was also the editor of WhoRunsGov.com, which amassed over 2,000 profiles of Washington political players, and launched the successful Plum Line blog helmed by Greg Sargent.
