Richard Tomko Pegged to Head amNewYork.

Newsday Media Group has announced the appointment of Richard Tomko as publisher of amNewYork. Effective immediately, Mr. Tomko will oversee amNewYork’s day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, and will report to Gordon McLeod, Newsday Media Group Publisher.

In his new role, Mr. Tomko will oversee marketing, advertising sales, distribution and operations, and lead the continued growth of amNewYork. With a redesigned and recently launched suite of mobile apps, Mr. Tomko will also be responsible for directing amNewYork’s digital advancement.

“Richard is a proven leader with demonstrated abilities to grow contemporary publishing brands,” said Mr. McLeod. “I am confident that Richard’s strong leadership and management skills will best position amNewYork for continued success.”

Mr. Tomko has over 18 years of digital publishing experience and joins amNewYork from Boost Digital, where he consulted with leading media companies to help grow their businesses. Prior, he served as CEO of Snooth Media, the largest wine site on the web after spending 14 years at Time Warner, most notably as vice president, business development for CNN before becoming general manager & vice president, business development, Time Inc. Digital.

While at Time Inc. Digital, Tomko oversaw strategy, business development, advertising and the financial performance of a portfolio of lifestyle brands, including: MyRecipes, Cooking Light, Southern Living, MyHomeIdeas, Sunset, and Coastal Living.
