Philadelphia Weekly Appoints New Editor in Chief

Philadelphia, Pa.–Review Publishing has named Stephen H. Segal as editor in chief of alternative newspaper the Philadelphia Weekly.

 

An award-winning editor and designer with experience in both journalism and book publishing, Segal is a veteran of Review Publishing’s InPittsburgh Weekly, where he was A&E editor and subsequently chief editor (1998-2001); WQED’s Pittsburgh Magazine, where he was managing editor (2003-2005); and the science fiction and fantasy magazine Weird Tales, where as editorial and creative director (2006-2010) he undertook a top-to-bottom revamping of the publication, winning the Hugo Award in 2009.

 

Segal has also worked as a freelance book designer for clients including Prime Books, Tor Books, and Carnegie Mellon; edited fiction and nonfiction for Quirk; and served on the executive board of the Interstitial Arts Foundation.
