Reynaldo Mena has been appointed editor in chief of Hoy’s Los Angeles edition, which will debut in March. Publishing executive Juan Arango has been appointed general manager.
A native of Mexico, Mena joins Hoy from Excelsior (the Spanish- language weekly published by the Orange County Register), where he was editor from 1999 to 2003. From 1996 to 1999, he worked as a reporter and later assistant editor for Nuevo Mundo, a Spanish-language weekly published by the San Jose (Calif) Mercury News.
Arango joined Hoy in January 1999 as editor in chief and was later promoted to vice president of operations and general manager in 2000.
