Raymond J. McCutcheon has been named executive vice president of advertising for the San Antonio Express-News. The announcement was made by Hearst Newspapers president Mark Aldam and Express-News president and publisher John C. McKeon.
In this new position, which McCutcheon will begin on August 13, he will be responsible for all print and digital advertising sales and marketing functions.
“We are pleased to welcome Ray to Hearst Newspapers and the San Antonio team,” Aldam said. “Under John’s able leadership, the Express-News is maximizing opportunities for advertisers across platforms, something Ray is well-suited to expand in new directions through his extensive experience in delivering strategic customized advertising and marketing solutions to customers.”
McCutcheon joins Hearst from CBA Industries where he was SVP of marketing and advertising since January 2008. In this role he worked with national retail accounts and local and regional businesses, in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia areas, to market themselves through a variety of media and also managed a community shopper publication.
He was previously SVP of advertising for Newsday, from September 2004 to January 2008, and SVP of advertising and marketing, for the Los Angeles Times from March 1999 to September 2004. Earlier, McCutcheon spent 13 years at Newsday in a variety of advertising and research roles.
“Ray’s advertising and marketing leadership will be of great benefit to the Express-News and our customers throughout South Texas,” McKeon said. “Ray will capitalize on our strong products, in all their print and digital forms, as he expands the value we can offer customers in reaching targeted audiences.”
