By: E&P Staff

Doug Moore, a veteran reporter with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, is the winner of the St. Louis Newspaper Guild’s 2010 Terry Hughes Award.

Moore, 47, was presented with the award Friday evening at the Guild’s annual meeting and banquet.

Judges praised Moore’s ability to tell personal, richly detailed stories about immigrants and their struggles; Haiti earthquake survivors and saviors; recipients and donors involved in the 100 Neediest Cases campaign; and a variety of other human-interest stories.

Judges praised Moore’s solid, deft writing and seeming ease navigating through different cultures and languages in reporting his stories.

Moore, the Post-Dispatch’s diversity and demographics reporter, is in his 11th year at the newspaper. He also has covered the Metro East and St. Louis City Hall, and he played a part in the award-winning coverage of the Kirkwood City Hall shootings.
