Steve Coffman has been named executive editor of The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle.
Coffman comes from the Jackson (Tenn.) Sun where he has been executive editor and director of content and audience development for the Gannett-owned newspaper since 2006.
Before that, Coffman was managing editor of the Sun and led day-to-day operations for a staff of about 40 reporters and editors who cover 13 counties in west Tennessee.
Before his tenure in Jackson, Coffman worked as a regional editor and metro editor for the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer. He started his journalism career as a reporter for the Finger Lakes Times in Geneva, N.Y.
