Terri Likens has been named managing editor of the Herald-Citizen in Cookeville, Tenn.
Likens comes to the Herald-Citizen after working the past few months as editor-at-large for Kentucky-based Landmark Communications, Inc. Prior to a brief stint as news editor at the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press, she worked 13 years as editor of the award-winning Roane County News in Kingston, Tenn. and regional editor for other sister Landmark newspapers.
She began her newspaper career in 1981 as a reporter at the Middlesboro (Ky.) Daily News. She also was a reporter at the Wilmington (N.C.) Star-News and Evansville (Ind.) Courier during the 1980s and 1990s.
Her career also included a stint as reporter and supervisor at the Chicago bureau of The Associated Press.
