Effective Monday, Feb. 28, Jeff Kuerzi (rhymes with jersey) joins The State Media Company in Columbia, S.C., as Vice President of Advertising. Jeff replaces Caryn Manning, who returned to her home state of Michigan in January.
According to Publisher Henry Haitz, Jeff brings a wealth of multimedia experience to the team with a background that encompasses advertising sales leadership, online sales management and business-to-business consulting. He most recently was VP of Marketing and Sales Operations for Horizon Data Center Solutions, an IT-outsourcing start-up in the Dallas area, after serving as VP of Sales for Centro, which developed online media-buying software packages.
He worked previously at the Dallas Morning News in Retail/National Advertising and as Online Sales Manager. His name will be familiar among Knight Ridder veterans, having served as Knight Ridder Digital’s Sales & Marketing Manager in Akron, Ohio, and Lexington, Kentucky, between 1997 and 2002.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA, both from the University of Kentucky. His wife, Dana, is an elementary school teacher, and they have five children ranging in age from 9 to 18. In his spare time, Jeff coaches youth football.
