Thought provoking, but you just can't start a local news agency you need years in the field earning the trust of and nurturing sources if you want to be a true community newspaper and watchdog.... those current local news agencies you're talking about are nice but just like a news station on TV. The biggest problem is the advertising agencies do not think anybody reads community newspapers because we are free, I have been in the business for 30 years I know how to market to national advertising agencies and they just don't listen to you because you're free..... if we can figure that answer out... we would do very well. It is beyond me that the corporations don't take a little responsibility when they print millions upon millions of inserts each week for daily pay newspapers and can't print a few more for weeklies who charge very little.
