A Marketing Resource (AMR), a leading contact center and direct marketing provider for the media, cable, utility, and energy marketplaces, announces its “Cash Discount Program” launch with Oahu Publications, Inc. (OPI) headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. OPI publishes the flagship Honolulu Star-Advertiser with the nation’s 9th largest daily print volume including dailies West Hawaii Today, The Garden Island and the Hawaii Tribune-Herald. OPI was the recent beta site and early adopter of AMR’s revolutionary program aimed at completely eliminating credit card fees.

AMR and its 6,500 plus employees have worked with over 400 newspapers since 2001, including 41 of the top 50 metro newspapers in the country, on dozens of innovative programs.

AMR now delivers cutting-edge financial technology to Hawaii’s largest media organization to implement a robust Cash Discount Program aimed at encouraging customers to pay with check or bank draft in order to obtain optimal price points available.

With AMR’s patented technology, powered by C&H Financial Services, one of the leading payment processors in North America, all of OPI’s $1.2MM per-annum credit card inter-change and processing fees have effectively been eliminated.

“Oahu Publications, Inc. takes great pride in fostering industry leading best practices and operating in concert with AMR to help pioneer this revolutionary initiative was extremely gratifying. We look forward to sharing this success model with publishing industry peers to demonstrate the benefits and advantages of the AMR Cash Discount Program. To my knowledge, this program is the only fully Dodd-Frank Law (part of the Durbin Amendment) compliant cash discount product in today’s publishing space,” said Aaron Kotarek, senior vice president of audience and operations, of Oahu Publications, Inc.

“This undertaking between AMR and Oahu Publications, Inc. provides convenient and compliant payment methods and we are excited to be first-to-market. Completely eliminating our exorbitant credit card fees allows OPI to reinvest capital back into our core competency of gathering and producing comprehensive and differentiated journalism,” said Dennis Francis, president and publisher, of Oahu Publications, Inc.

“OPI was the beta site for our initial launch as the company is a notable media industry leader who prides themselves on cutting edge innovation and strategic thought leadership. AMR’s program also completely integrates into the publishing industry’s top billing systems,” said Ed Spagnola, CEO of A Marketing Resource, based out of Woodbury, Minnesota.
