A promotion for Brian Hoerst at The New York Times

Posted

We’re delighted to announce that Brian Hoerst has been promoted to senior editor, Digital Storytelling and Training, a role within Newsroom Development and Support that recognizes the contributions that Brian has been making to our increasingly global, 24-hour newsroom. In his new role, Brian will report to Eric Athas.

Brian leads with empathy, respect and collaboration in everything he does — those traits have made him highly successful in his efforts to build out an NDS presence in London during the last few years. In that role, he has demonstrated a knack for finding forward-thinking solutions to some of the newsroom’s most complex challenges — everything from implementing a sophisticated new Scoop access tool framework to helping the photo product team build new features to leading fast-paced publishing support. He’s been a key player in London’s rapid expansion, providing scores of new staffers with comprehensive onboard training, and giving direct assistance to our developing homepage.

We’re excited for Brian to bring all of this experience to his new position. Reporting to Eric, Brian will take on an even bigger international role from the London newsroom while expanding his presence in training that touches the newsroom at large. He will shape and lead efforts that help the newsroom adopt new tools and skills and will take a more active role in the cultural transformation of the newsroom in collaboration with his NDS teammates.

Please join us in congratulating Brian!
