Announcement from General Assignment Editor Keith McMillan and Deputy Managing Editor Sharif Durhams:

We are thrilled to announce that Anumita Kaur has joined The Post’s General Assignment desk, where she will cover breaking news and write of-the-moment features.

Anumita was most recently a Washington-based fellow for the Los Angeles Times, covering Congress and the White House, the Jan. 6 hearings, and the Biden administration’s actions on covid-19 and the climate. She traveled to California to contrast how San Diego achieved success housing homeless people while San Francisco fell behind. She also wrote about dating apps that cater to South Asians.

Prior to the L.A. Times, Anumita spent nearly three years reporting for the Guam Pacific Daily News, covering how the military presence affects the U.S. territory. She wrote about the economy, covered typhoons, and revealed the history behind 75-year-old unexploded grenades and bombs on the island. She also worked as a reporter in the cities of Pleasanton and Tracy in her native state of California.

Anumita spends her spare time reading fiction, practicing yoga and plotting where to travel next.

Please join us in congratulating her. She started Jan. 30.
