Caterina Clerici joins Video at The New York Times

We are very excited to announce that Caterina Clerici has joined The Times as a new member of the Video department.

Caterina joins as Video’s new production manager, where she will oversee the mobilization and deployment of news crews, development of our global freelance production staff network, management of the Times newsroom video cinematography standards and troubleshooting production challenges as they arise.

A three-time winner of the Innovation in Development Reporting Grant of the European Journalism Center, Caterina has worked as a freelance journalist since 2012, reporting from Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Rwanda, Brazil and Cuba for publications including TIME, The Guardian, Al Jazeera English, Marie Claire, La Repubblica, Libération, La Stampa, The Independent, El Pais, Zeit Online and Vanity Fair.

She worked at TIME as a breaking news photo editor and was a producer on the pilot of The Messy Truth VR Experience, which won the Social Justice Lumiere Award and was a finalist at the 71st Emmy Awards for outstanding innovation in interactive media. In 2020/2021, she was an executive producer at Blink Media, leading the global media coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic for the World Health Organization, with more than 65 productions in 40+ countries. In 2021 she also co-founded the film production company KINOᐧBRIGANTE with Alfredo Chiarappa.
