Nancy Meyer, president and publisher of the Houston Chronicle, said that Evan I. Mintz had been named editor of Opinion and Community Engagement.

Mintz, who previously served as deputy opinion editor at the Houston Chronicle, where he was a 2017 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing for his contributions to a series on gun laws and violence, replaces Lisa Falkenberg, who earlier this year assumed a new statewide position as Senior Columnist – Texas.

“Evan is a seasoned professional with a proven record of success crafting impactful policy, shaping conversations on local, state and national issues, and elevating engagement on multi-platform channels,” Meyer said in announcing the hire. “His ability to collaborate across the political spectrum, foster meaningful dialogue and cultivate relationships with Houston’s business, cultural and political communities reflects his inclusive and dynamic leadership style.”
