ICIJ offers training on new tool empowering offshore financial investigations

Posted

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists has unveiled a new Application Programming Interface (API) to enhance its Offshore Leaks Database, a critical tool in the donor-supported news organization’s groundbreaking investigations.

ICIJ Chief Technology Officer Pierre Romera Zhang will lead a live training session to demonstrate the tool’s capabilities, including its real-time reconciliation feature for uncovering hidden financial connections.

Date: Friday, Dec. 13
Time: 8 a.m. EST (2 p.m. CET)
Location: https://www.youtube.com/live/p2783xIcfdA

Funded by the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammanarbeit (GIZ), the API enables users to match and enrich their data with information on more than 810,000 offshore entities represented in ICIJ’s database.

By automating data enrichment, the tool accelerates investigations and helps users— including journalists, researchers and financial regulators — trace complex, cross-border financial transactions.

The innovation underscores ICIJ’s commitment to leveraging — and freely sharing — technology to drive transparency and accountability.

About the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists:
