An announcement from Futures Editor Zachary Goldfarb:
I’m very happy to announce that Juliet Eilperin will become deputy Futures editor, helping oversee a new newsroom department focused on covering forces shaping life in the 21st century.
Juliet, who has been deputy editor of the Climate & Environment Department for the past three years, will be a critical partner to me in leading Futures, which brings together the Technology, Business, Health & Science, and Climate teams.
In more than a quarter century at The Post, Juliet has served as a political reporter, environmental journalist and editor. She has helped lead Pulitzer Prize winning journalism, broken countless political stories, overseen memorable projects, launched new audience-focused initiatives and been a trusted mentor and colleague who spares no effort ensuring the professional and personal success of her fellow Post journalists. And, she may be the world’s best multitasker.
As deputy Climate editor, Juliet was instrumental in all of our most significant work, overseeing an award-winning project on climate’s health toll, The Human Limit, and coverage of Hurricane Helene and its aftermath, which was recognized as a Pulitzer Prize finalist for National Reporting this year. She has continued to write one feature a year, including an interactive piece about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and a story about the Tongass National Forest that won a gold 2022 AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Award in the large outlet category.
Prior to editing, Juliet worked as part of the team that won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for “2C: Beyond the Limit.” She assembled a regulatory tracker with John Muyskens and Brady Dennis that received the Society of Environmental Journalists’ 2021 Prize for Outstanding Beat Reporting, Large Outlet, and worked on an environmental justice series that was recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 2022.
During the first Trump administration, Juliet helped expose ethical lapses that contributed to the resignations of then-Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt and then-Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke,
Juliet previously served as national environmental reporter, White House bureau chief and senior national affairs correspondent. She originally joined The Post in 1998 as its House of Representatives reporter, where she covered the impeachment of Bill Clinton, lobbying, legislation, and five national congressional campaigns.
A born-and-bred Washingtonian, Juliet Eilperin graduated from Princeton and is the author of two books, "Demon Fish: Travels Through the Hidden World of Sharks" and "Fight Club Politics: How Partisanship is Poisoning the House of Representatives,” and an honorary member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.
Please congratulate Juliet on this significant new role, which is effective immediately.
