We are excited to announce Lili Loofbourow is The Post’s new TV critic. She will lead our TV coverage, writing reviews, analyses and trend pieces that guide readers through the fractured streaming landscape and dissect the cultural politics that drive the medium.
Lili has been a staff writer at Slate since 2018, where she has written about television and politics, gender, comedy, fandoms and social media; prior to that, she was the culture critic at the Week and a special correspondent at the Los Angeles Review of Books. She co-founded the criticism blog Dear Television, wrote cover profiles and essays for the New York Times Magazine, was a columnist for the Awl and the Hairpin and twice won the Virginia Quarterly Review's Staige D. Blackford Prize for Nonfiction. Her coverage of the Brett M. Kavanaugh hearings was chosen for the Best American Essays book collection in 2019.
A Chilean American, Lili has bachelor’s degrees from the University of Southern California in neuroscience, music and English and a master of fine arts in creative writing from the University of Alabama.
She is based in Oakland, Calif., and her first day is Jan. 23.
