Megan McCrea joins Special Sections at The New York Times

We’re excited to announce that Megan McCrea is joining the Special Sections wing of the Print Hub as a senior staff editor. Megan comes to us from the freelance world, where she has directed editorial strategy for the book packager Connected Dots Media, written for Condé Nast Traveler and Better Homes & Gardens, and edited for Sonoma magazine.

Before going freelance, Megan was a senior editor at Via, AAA’s award-winning travel and lifestyle magazine covering nine western states. While there, she launched the magazine’s Arizona edition, directed travel videos, and edited features on everything from the Apollo anniversary to the science of storm-watching. Megan came to Via from Sunset magazine where, as assistant travel editor, she edited features and section stories, oversaw coverage of the Southwest, and co-founded the Sunset Cookbook Club.

Megan’s writing has appeared in a variety of print and digital outlets, including Condé Nast Traveler, Better Homes & Gardens, the San Francisco Chronicle, Mabuhay, and Poetry Flash.

Before jumping into the world of media, Megan served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau, where she taught English, coordinated community development projects, and learned to scuba dive. Upon her return to the States, she co-authored Other Places Publishing’s guide to her country of service. She received her bachelor of arts in English and theater studies from Duke University.

Megan joined us on June 13.
