Meher Ahmad will be joining the Special Projects team as a staff editor, where she will help shape and execute some of the department’s biggest collaborations.

Meher’s work has already spanned multiple mediums. As a documentary producer and director, she has made award-winning shows with HBO, VICE, CNN, BBC, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Meher was formerly the South Asia and Middle East editor at Rest of World, spearheading coverage of a vast and complicated region during the site’s first year, shepherding daily news stories and commissioning long-form features. She also served as an associate editor at The California Sunday Magazine during the magazine’s final year.

Prior to this role, Meher served as a stringer for The Times out of Karachi. Over the course of two years, she covered everything from the 2018 election and changing cultural norms to terrorism and polio.

Please join me in congratulating Meher on her new post.
