"Grapevine" tells the story of a teacher and a transgender teenager caught in the crossfire of the Grapevine-Colleyville school district’s anti-trans policy, part of a wider anti-LGBTQ movement gaining speed in Texas and across the country, and investigates the Christian conservative influence behind it. The podcast features exclusive interviews with students, teachers, school board candidates, parents and politicians, as well as secretly recorded audio of school administrators grappling with growing political pressure from conservative groups.

"Grapevine" follows the launch of #1 hit podcast "Southlake" in 2021, which chronicled the racial and cultural fight that consumed the wealthy suburb of Southlake, Texas and sparked a national conversation around book bans.

The first two episodes will be available Wednesday, Oct. 4, with two new episodes released each following week — one on Wednesday and another on Friday — on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. You can read more at NBCNews.com/Grapevine.

The series is the latest addition to NBCUniversal News Group’s expansive portfolio of award-winning and chart-topping podcasts. NBCUniversal News Group is a top five podcast publisher in the U.S., according to Podtrac.
