Progress stalls in Post-Gazette, union talks

Talks continued Thursday between striking Pittsburgh Post-Gazette unions and management, with a third session scheduled next month. 

While talks in Downtown lasted about six hours, the two sides disagreed on how productive the session with a federal mediator was.

Zack Tanner, president of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh, which represents reporters, photographers and other newsroom employees involved in the monthlong strike, said the company rejected a “major non-economic concession” by the union without a counter offer.

“I am incredibly disappointed by today’s session with the Post-Gazette,” Mr. Tanner said in a prepared statement. “The Guild came to both sessions this week prepared to bargain to end the strike and the company showed zero interest in doing that.”
