Six Rivers Media launches Bristol Now

Posted

Six Rivers Media, LLC, today launched Bristol Now, a new weekly newspaper and associated daily-updated website (bristolnow.news) serving the Twin City of Bristol, Tennessee, and Bristol, Virginia. With an initial circulation of 5,000 per week, Bristol Now is designed in the spirit of the best weekly newspapers with a forward-looking stance that is intensely focused on the communities it serves.

“The Bristols are booming,” said Six Rivers President Rick Thomason. “With steady growth even through the pandemic and a new major casino on the horizon for Bristol, Virginia, we saw an opportunity to expand news coverage.

“Bristol Now is and will remain all local content. It will be relevant to both residents and visitors. It will be engaging, attractive and entertaining. Most importantly, it will reflect the robust character of the area and region.”

Bristol Now's birth is unusual in the media business in that it has a print component. Far more newspapers have closed in recent years than have been launched. But it answers an oft-asked question of the Six Rivers Media team: “When are you coming to Bristol?”

Leading Bristol Now's content-gathering is Susan Cameron, a name well known in the region for her journalistic prowess. She brings more than 30 years of journalism experience that has been anchored in the Bristol area. As winner of multiple news association awards, Cameron knows not only what’s news and what’s not, but also what’s important to Bristol residents.

“The inclusion of Bristol into the Six Rivers family allows residents throughout the region to stay up-to-date on current events that will affect them,” said Six Rivers Media CEO Allen Rau. “First and foremost is to provide Bristol residents with news and information that affects them. At the same time, events in Bristol are relevant to folks not just in Bristol, but other communities in the Tri-Cities as well.”
