Announcement from Graphics Director Chiqui Esteban and Deputy Graphics Director Tim Meko:

We are very happy to announce that Szu Yu Chen has joined The Post as a graphics reporter based on the West Coast.

Szu Yu previously worked as a data journalist and graphics reporter at the Los Angeles Times, where she worked extensively on the midterms, including producing maps that showed how Angelenos voted in local elections neighborhood by neighborhood. Szu Yu worked on all kinds of stories, from explaining how California salmon is at risk of extinction to creating calculators to help people figure out whether it was time for them to receive a coronavirus booster shot.

Before her time in Los Angeles, Szu Yu held similar positions in Bloomberg Graphics, at Barabási Lab and at the Boston Globe.

Originally from Taiwan, Szu Yu earned her undergraduate degree from National Chengchi University and graduated from the journalism master’s program at Northeastern University. Outside of work, she enjoys perfecting her techniques for plant propagation and reading Japanese manga.

Please join us in welcoming Szu Yu to The Post. Her first day was Nov. 28.
