Pew Research has just confirmed what many newsroom managers feared: Audiences in the key demographic are now heading to TikTok for their news. A quarter of adults aged 30 to 49 said they regularly get their news from TikTok. That’s up 23% from five years ago.
This, of course, has the industry buzzing about content creators and trying again to monetize multiple platforms. But for journalists and local newsroom managers, there is an approach that needs to happen now: Assign and stick to beats.
