An announcement from WP Ventures Editor Krissah Thompson and General Manager Samantha Henig:

We are thrilled to announce that Jenna Pirog, a creative thinker and visual leader, is taking on the role of Senior Editor in Ventures.

Jenna has been instrumental in the development of Ventures. She is brimming with ideas and also operationally minded — a key combination in helping to organize and manage the planning process over the last few months that led to the creation of this new division. As anyone who stopped by our “PostUp” office hours this fall can attest, her enthusiasm for innovation and the Ventures mission — growing our reach, revenue and relevance with new audiences — is infectious.

Jenna brings to this latest challenge more than 15 years of experience as a collaborative visuals and video editor who embraces emerging technology — from serving as the Virtual Reality Editor at the New York Times, where she produced award-winning projects such as The Displaced and The Fight for Falluja, to joining The Post as the Deputy Editor of the Lede Lab, where she helped explore new technologies and fresh storytelling approaches to elevate our visual journalism.

Earlier in her career, she led the video and immersive experiences teams at National Geographic. More recently, she has been the Visual Enterprise Editor for The Post’s award-winning Investigations team, where she led some of our most groundbreaking visually driven storytelling approaches such as They Took the Children and Searching for Maura by collaborating with teams across design, photo, video and graphics.

Jenna’s agile ability to work across teams will be vital in this new role. As we explore growing our reach off-platform through new formats and sharpened strategy around social video and video podcasts, Jenna will be a key voice, both in pushing us to break out of our comfort zone and in ensuring that we always keep our values and standards high. She’ll also serve as a key touchpoint on our leadership team as Ventures works with visual journalists across The Post, including in News and Opinions.

Please join us in congratulating Jenna on her new role.
