The Washington Post: Noah Bierman named deputy editor of the Campaigns and Democracy team

An announcement from Politics and Government Editor Lori Montgomery, Deputy Politics and Government Editor Nick Baumann and Campaigns and Democracy Editor Sean Sullivan:

We are thrilled to announce that Noah Bierman will join The Post as deputy editor of the newly formed Campaigns and Democracy team.

Noah joins The Post from Politico, where he served as White House editor. Noah, who will report to Sean Sullivan, is a talented journalist with an eye for attention-grabbing stories. At Politico, he quickly established himself as a motivator who helped reporters mine scoops and craft quick-turn enterprise that provided insight into the new administration and made sense of a challenging moment.

That followed a distinguished reporting career at the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, the Miami Herald, the Palm Beach Post and the Duluth News-Tribune. He was a leading chronicler of the first Trump administration and much of Kamala Harris’ vice presidency for the L.A. Times — where he often took coverage in surprising directions — and was part of two teams that won the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award, for the Globe and the L.A. Times.

Noah has spent decades reporting on local, state and national issues inside and outside Washington, positioning him perfectly for the task ahead. He thrives on stories that explain policy from the point of view of people, including a globe-spanning, award-winning series on the causes of homelessness for the L.A. Times. His favorite stories from the campaign trail took a similar tack.

Please join us in welcoming Noah to the newsroom. His first day is May 27.
