Philly chief meteorologist retiring after 30 years

Cecily Tynan, the longtime chief meteorologist for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s WPVI, will retire after more than three decades with the ABC-owned station.

Tynan announced her retirement July 23. Her final appearance on “6ABC Action News” is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31.

She joined WPVI in 1995 as its first weekend meteorologist and a general assignment reporter before becoming chief meteorologist in 2009. She currently delivers forecasts for the station’s 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts and a streaming newscast at 6:30 p.m.
