Ben Burns was many things: a committed newsman, a civic-minded volunteer, a voice for fair treatment and a mentor.
But one of his most cherished roles was family man.
And
it was in that role, surrounded by his adoring family at his Grosse
Pointe home, that Burns died Friday morning of the acute myeloid
leukemia he was diagnosed with last Tuesday. Prior to that, Burns was
diagnosed with a rare blood disorder in 1997.
