Merrillville-based Lakeshore Public Media was awarded a matching fund grant totaling $100,000 from Legacy Foundation.

Legacy Foundation is a community foundation in Lake County. The grant is part of the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow program.

“The Legacy Foundation is a key contributor to the efforts of Lakeshore Public Media in community engagement, and we wouldn't be successful without their collaboration,” said Chuck Roberts, Lakeshore Public Media president and CEO, in a press release.

Lakeshore will use the funds to promote child development initiatives in Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area. At the core of its initiatives is a six-episode television series, “Building Blocks.” Slated to premiere in September, the series will cover topics such as brain development, maternal mental health, early intervention and family relationships.
