By: Jennifer Owens Patent Infringement Alleged
(Mediaweek) New York-based 24/7 Media Inc., on the largest
Internet advertising networks, filed a patent infringement
suit Tuesday against rival DoubleClick Inc.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern
District of New York, alleges that the enabling technology
for DoubleClick's DART ad-serving system infringes on 24/7's
patent, entitled ?On-Line Interactive System and Method for
Providing Content and Advertising Information to a Targeted
Set of Viewers.?
At DoubleClick in New York, vice president and general
counsel Elizabeth Wang said, without seeing the complaint,
?Based on our initial review of the patent, we believe that
any claim of infringement would be baseless. We will defend
ourselves vigorously.?
24/7 (http://www.247media.com) demands unspecified monetary
damages and an injunction to halt the alleged infringement.
