3 Papers Roll Out Subscriber-Only Web Sections

Posted
By: Clickshare Service Corp. of Williamstown, Mass., recently deployed its digital-content transaction platform at three newspapers: the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester, Mass.; Standard-Examiner of Ogden, Utah; and the weekly Bonner Springs (Kans.) Chieftain.

Each of these papers allows free access to their Web sites, but they restrict premium content to paid subscribers. Clickshare's technology allows the papers to track subscribers and nonsubscribers.

The Worcester paper, owned by The New York Times Co., is using Clickshare's technology to offer a personalized "my.telegram" page for print subscribers and those who purchase an online-only subscription. In Ogden, the Standard-Examiner is differentiating subscription prices based on whether the consumer lives in the local area or outside of it. The Chieftain, owned by the World Co. of Lawrence, Kans. is offering a special print subscriber section with extra articles and features.

Clickshare's other clients include Belo, MediaNews Group Inc., and McClatchy Co.
