By: E&P Staff When columnists go to columnist meetings, they write many columns about what they see and hear.
Those attending the June 23-26 National Society of Newspaper Columnists conference in Grapevine, Texas, ended up writing more than 29,000 words about the meeting, according to conference host Dave Lieber. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist collected columns about the meeting, and attached them in an e-mail sent yesterday to NSNCers. Printed out, the columns fill 86 pages.
A total of 169 people attended the conference, but some were spouses and other non-columnists.
Probably the most written-about part of the meeting was the talk given by Jim Leavelle, who, in 1963, was the white-hatted Dallas police detective handcuffed to Lee Harvey Oswald when Oswald was shot (
