A Few Kos Words

Posted
By: E&P Staff An article by Lisa Chamberlain on the dispute over The Plain Dealer in Cleveland's non-endorsement for president at online magazine Salon.com held several interesting tidbits -- such as, "longtime editorial page editor Brent Larkin stepped in to stop the Bush endorsement" -- along with a not very favorable review of the career of Publisher Alex Machaskee.

But the writer also made an egregious, if comical, error in confusing two leading bloggers, Mickey Kaus and Markos Moulitsas Z?niga.

In describing a posting at Moulitsas's super-popular site Daily Kos, the offending passage reads:

"Mickey Kos wrote in his weblog last Saturday that Machaskee was put off by the fact that former Assistant Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke, whom Machaskee considers an enemy of Serbia because of the Kosovo war, was dispatched by the Kerry campaign to press for an endorsement.

"Kos wrote: 'Word has it that after Holbrooke met with the editorial board and left the room, Machaskee looked around the room, crinkled up his nose, and said, 'Now we're gonna have to fumigate this place.'"
